The job, and the plan as you were told it. They have this written down somewhere — from now on, so do you.
Your commission plan
Fill in the line so it reads back the way your plan actually works.
Without the bands, a dispute about which rate applied can’t be measured.
When did this plan start?
Not when you started the job — when this plan did. A deal is measured against the plan that was in force when it closed, so if yours has changed, this is the date that decides which one.
Where does this plan come from?
The plan document is the thing that matters most, and the hardest to get back later.
The gaps
A plan that is silent on these is itself a finding — your record says so rather than assuming the answer either way.
Can they take commission back after paying it?
A clawback is a different thing from never being paid, and the record keeps them apart.
Does it cover deals split with someone else?
Two people on one deal is where plans most often say nothing at all.
What happens to unpaid commission if you leave?
Ask now, while you can still read the plan.
The job
The name as it appears on your pay stub — that’s the one that matters on a record.
A few states put duties on your employer about the plan itself.
Private to you. Your employer is never contacted or notified — not now, not ever.
